The Buteyko technique (AKA Mouth Taping) was first developed in the 1950's by the Soviet doctor of the same name, Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko.
Now, we know it might sound a little bit strange, like something you'd do after a long night on the wines with the girls haha, but people are swearing by it and say it's the secret to a good night's sleep. But, is there any truth to these claims?
Before you go running to grab a roll of tape, there are a few things you should keep in mind. It's always best to talk to your doctor before trying anything new, especially if you have sleep apnea or other breathing disorders. Also, make sure the tape is not too tight, as it could block your airway. Plus it's recommend to get proper mouth sleeping tape or at least medical tape.
There's no scientific evidence to support its effectiveness. But, that doesn't mean it won't work for you! If you're thinking about trying it, just be sure to either talk to your doctor first or do your own research before you try it!
